The Training Industry magazine has published an article I wrote on one of the elephants I see ignored by L&D: Learning Transfer. How would you define the purpose of training? Something like… “The purpose of training is to improve competence, and thereby, change the way people do things, so they perform better and get better results at work.” How well do your training programmes create better performance? That is, how well does the learning from your training events transfer into new behaviour in the workplace?
